Abstract:

Rashtraveerkar Shamrao Desai has earned worldly fame as the true heir of the work of Mahatma Phule and Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj, the ambassador of truth-seeking movement and the welcomer of the non-Brahmin movement. He started his life in a city like Belgaum in the border region of Maharashtra and Karnataka and made this area his work ground and it is seen that he has made an enlightening contribution in the formation of modern Maharashtra in all aspects such as religious, social, political and economic. Shamrao seems to have started his career by teaching and working as a teacher in his early life. However, Shamrao's work in public life can be seen to have started through religious movements. In fact, Shamrao had awakened his self-respect and decided to rebel against the Brahminical attitude by reading the Guru Charitra. It can be seen that Shamrao took the initiative to make a movement against the traditional rights that the Brahmin class got due to religious practices, customs and superstitions.
