Abstract:

The region of Marathwada has undergone many political, cultural, economic and educational changes since ancient times. Many foreign as well as indigenous royal families established their political power in this region. During this period, there were welfare kings in this area. During that period, the development of this area can be seen. Like in this area, when Satavahana When the royal family came to power, this region got political and cultural stability. During this period, this region moved towards economic prosperity. Through this study, the backlog of overall development of Marathwada is a problem compared to other regions of Maharashtra. A study on the situation, as well as the backlog in Marathwada will be conducted. For this, descriptive and analytical methods have been used. India became independent on August 15, 1947. But since Marathwada was part of the Hyderabad State, this region got independence late. The Nizam of Hyderabad State refused to merge with India. As a result, the Hyderabad Freedom Struggle was fought in 1948. And the Hyderabad State merged with India. During the Nizam's period, the development of Marathwada was very backward. The development situation in all sectors of this region was becoming dire. The Marathi speakers of this region demanded a united Maharashtra for them. In 1956, Marathwada was included in the bilingual Mumbai state. The fight for a united Maharashtra continued. Finally, after the sacrifice of 107 people, a united Maharashtra was established on May 1, 1960. Just as Vidarbha joined Maharashtra with some conditions for development, Marathwada, which was already struggling for development, joined this state without any conditions for development. Marathwada came to be part of a united Maharashtra with the aim of being considered more in Maharashtra than under the Nizam's rule. The consequences of this Even today, the people of this region are suffering in terms of development. The direction of development of any backward region like Marathwada depends on the level above that country, i.e. the state and national level. Many regions in the world are more or less developed. All this depends on the techniques and policies at the national and state levels. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct an in-depth study on the backward regions in terms of development
