Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) has emerged as one of the most transformative technologies in higher education. Tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Microsoft Copilot are changing the way students learn, educators teach, and institutions manage academic processes. This paper explores the concept of generative AI, its applications in higher education, benefits, challenges, ethical concerns, and future directions. The study concludes that while GenAI offers opportunities for personalized learning, research assistance, and administrative efficiency, responsible implementation, digital literacy, and ethical governance are essential for maximizing its educational benefits.
